Conservative Ministers playing "fast and loose with the union"
Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Cabinet Office, Women and Equalities and Scotland Christine Jardine MP has spoken out over the government's attempt to overturn the reform of the Gender Recognition Act in Scotland.
She tweeted today:
"The Scottish Parliament passed a bill to make the gender recognition process easier, with support from MSPs of all parties.
"How dare Conservative Ministers play fast and loose with the union and people's lives by blocking it like this. #GRRBill #ScottishLiberalDemocrats"

Following a long debate and extensive engagement with women's and LGBT community groups across several years, the Scottish Parliament backed the reform overwhelmingly in December. It passed with 86 votes in support of the change and 39 against - with support from all five parties represented in the Parliament and opposition scattered among Conservative, SNP and Labour members.
