Amendment on Implementing Party Policy

LGBT+ Liberal Democrats submitted the following amendment to Business Motion F14 at York Federal Conference:

2, set up a working group to review how to implement amendments to equalities legislation to reflect existing Liberal Democrat policy, including the policy paper "Leading the Way" and motion "Free To Be Who You Are" passed in the Spring 2024 Federal Conference, as well as the values detailed in the Liberal Democrat constitution.

This amendment was not selected -- we were told it fell outside the scope of the motion. We are disappointed by this outcome, and we believe our party needs to have a conversation about its frequent failure to advocate the excellent policy passed at Conference. In this spirit, we welcome recent calls by our Women and Equalities spokesperson, Marie Goldman, for cross-party talks on reforming equalities law to protect trans people's rights.
