Bio

Em Dean is a genderqueer/intersex, bisexual individual who relocated to London from Sussex. They have a rich history of human rights activism, particularly in migrant and refugee activism, and have more recently been involved in advocating for transgender, nonbinary, and intersex issues.

Em has a diverse professional background, having previously worked as a staff writer covering immigration and politics for a regional Latin American newspaper in the Midwest US from 2007-2011. They are now an English language teacher and a semi-professional cricket umpire, officiating in various competitive leagues in Middlesex. During their free time, Em enjoys playing competitive online games, drinking tea, and taking photographs of cats.

In 2016, Em joined the Lib Dems and has since been actively involved in numerous campaigns in London and South Central. They have held several roles, including electoral agent, compliance officer, and communications coordinator. Em has also served as the Secretary of Liberal Democrats Education Association since March 2018 and is an active member of Harrow Liberal Democrats.
