May 23, 2022 2:15 PM

Alex Cole-Hamilton headshotScottish Lib Dems leader Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP welcomed the news that the Church in Scotland voted to bless same-sex weddings today.

He tweeted, "This is lovely. Well done to the Kirk."

The Church of Scotland becomes the largest faith group solemnising same-sex marriage in the UK, alongside the Scottish Episcopal Church, the Methodist Church, the United Reformed Church, the Unitarians and the Quakers.

The Church of Scotland General Assembly today voted by 274 votes to 136 to allow ministers who choose to do so, to solemnise same-sex marriages.
