Marking Bi Visibility Day today, Liberal Democrat Minister for Women and Equalities Jo Swinson MP said: "Absolutely no-one should face prejudice and discrimination because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
"The UK is leading the way in LGB&T equality and we can be proud of the real progress that has been made in recent years. But we know there is more to do which is why this autumn we will launch a new Call for Evidence, to explore what the next steps need to be to improve the lives of LGB&T people.
"I welcome Bi Visibility Day which helps to raise awareness of the issues that bisexual people can face and provides an opportunity to celebrate diversity and focus on the B in LGB&T."
LGBT+ Lib Dems Chair Adrian Trett said, "Last year I was delighted to attend the launch of The Bisexuality Report, a brilliant resource produced by some of the country's leading bisexual organisations highlighting issues for bisexual people that policy-makers need to consider and address."
"LGBT+ Lib Dems has a long record of engagement with the bisexual community, going back even before we changed our name from 'lesbian and gay' to LGBT in the mid 1990s. As well as being a moment to celebrate bisexual people's lives and the work of bi organisations, Bi Visibility Day is a great reminder to focus on how things are different for bisexuals and how we can address the challenges of bisexual invisibility and biphobia."
