LGBT Liberal Democrats Social Evening, London, Saturday 29th January

January 25, 2011 11:03 PM

A bottle of House of Commons champagne, at the LGBT Lib Dems / Delga stall, Federal Conference Sept 2010The Liberal Democrats' LGBT wing will be holding a social evening in London on Saturday 29th January. Members, supporters and friends can join us from 8:30pm at the Kings Arms Pub, 23 Poland Street, Soho W1F 8QL. There will be a fundraising raffle at the social, with the top prize being a bottle of House of Lords champagne.

The social event is a precursor to the members-only Winter Strategy Conference at Lib Dem HQ in London, where our members and exec will meet MPs and party staff to discuss future LGBT campaigning inside the party and in Government. Issues to be covered include the blood donation ban, international relationships with countries who discriminate against homosexuality, the Government's Transgender Action Plan, and provision and recognition of equal marriage.

The Liberal Democrats have a proud tradition of LGBT equality going back to 1975 and beyond, and are the only major UK political party to support fully equal marriage. LGBT Lib Dems, historically known as Delga, is an official part of the party with full policy-promoting powers. LGBT Lib Dems celebrated its 21st birthday at the Liberal Democrat conference in Liverpool in September 2010. All party members can join the group to support its work.
