Equality Bill could be great - we need the detail

December 3, 2008 2:04 PM
Houses of Parliament Westminster in London

Time to lobby MPs for the best Equality Bill we can get!

"The Equality Bill in today's Queen's Speech could be excellent news for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people", says DELGA Chair Jen Yockney. "But we need to see the details and make sure that it is suitably broad in its scope. Parliament must take this chance to get it right - particularly on the breadth of trans inclusion, to go further than the limited Gender Recognition Act."

The bill is expected to make its way through Parliament in March or April, so there is plenty of time to get writing to MPs of every political hue to encourage them to support as inclusive a version of the bill as possible.
