Sir Menzies Campbell announced his resignation as Liberal Democrat party leader at 6.30pm today.
DELGA Chair Jen Yockney placed on record the organisation's thanks to him for his role as leader in directing the restructuring of the party's campaigns over the last 18 months which has put us in better shape for fighting elections than ever before: "At the start of his leadership Ming helped us to win the Dunfermline byelection, gaining our 63rd MP in Willie Rennie. He has been an unequivocal supporter of gay rights issues both before and during his time as party leader, helping maintain the Lib Dems' record as the leading party on LGBT equality."
