Ludford welcomes new Euro-LGBT website

December 6, 2006 7:53 PM

The European Parliament's Intergroup (all-party parliamentary group) on Gay and Lesbian Rights has launched a new website featuring a documentation centre, regular press reviews, a massive links directory, and easy-to-use communication tools that enable direct interaction between the public and members of the Intergroup.

London's Liberal Democrat MEP and member of the Intergroup, Baroness Sarah Ludford said: "This new website reflects the rapid rise of LGBT rights issues on the political agenda of the European Parliament. MEPs will continue to champion the cause of the LGBT community and ensure that every member state understands that freedom, dignity and equal respect are for all citizens, without exception."

The website will provide more detail about the Intergroup's activities and the tools it uses to make positive changes across Europe. It also offers the opportunity for LGBT associations (and others) to submit news for publication directly on the website, as well as to highlight forthcoming events.

Baroness Ludford added, "Featuring over 200 links for the LGBT community, I hope this website will become a key resource. I am particularly pleased to report that the winning entry for the contest organised to adopt the website's new URL was from the UK!"
