Conference goes with a swing

Menzies Campbell and Simon Hughes at the Absolutely Equal reception
DELGA is having an excellent week at Liberal Democrats Autumn Federal Conference.
At our AGM both Lorely Burt MP and Evan Harris MP were guest speakers, and Monday night saw a packed fringe meeting with top speakers including Baroness Neuberger, Cllr Rodney Berman, Stephen Williams MP and Ben Summerskill of Stonewall. Ben Summerskill reflected on the need for more out LGB parliamentarians while congratulation Stephen Williams on becoming the first out Lib Dem MP last year; Stephen reported on his work leading the campaign against homophobic Rabbi Dame Julia Neuberger spoke on the dangers of intolerance where LGBT issues come up against religious beliefs.
Chair Kelvin Meyrick said, "It's been a great conference for us already and DELGA's programme for the conference rounds off with a social meet on Tuesday evening, but our members and supporters will also be interested in the LDYS fringe meeting on homophobic bullying and the Absolutely Equal reception. I look forward to meeting many more of our members at all three - and if you're not a member, come to our stand in the exhibition area and join us."
