Kelly needs to come clean on equality issues - Burt

May 9, 2006 6:15 PM

Commenting on Ruth Kelly's gay rights voting record Liberal Democrat Women and Equalities Spokesperson, Lorely Burt MP said: "How can the gay community trust equal rights legislation to be properly implemented and enforced when Ruth Kelly has such an ambiguous record on gay rights?

"Ruth Kelly urgently needs to come clean about whether she agrees with her own Department's policies on equality issues. Tony Blair's re-shuffle tried to reduce bad headlines but has so far only succeeded in shifting trouble from one department to another."
