DELGA are backing Brian Paddick to be the first Liberal Democrat elected Mayor of London.
Tickets are now available for Stonewall's hustings on Saturday 19 April for the London mayoral elections. Brian Paddick will be there, as well as other candidates including Ken Livingstone & Boris Johnson.

Brian Paddick, Liberal Democrat candidate for Mayor of London has welcomed a PinkNews.co.uk poll that shows strong support amongst gay voters. On first preferences Mr Livingstone won 37.66%, Mr Paddick 36.71%, with the Tory and Green nominees trailing.

Brian Paddick, the man who was until recently the highest ranking openly gay police officer in Britain today launched his campaign to become the first Liberal Democrat Mayor of London. DELGA are delighted to be able to support his candidacy. Chair of DELGA Jen Yockney commented, "I first met Brian completely out of the context of party politics, as he and I were both speakers at a high profile lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender conference a few years ago.

Brian Paddick - until recently the highest ranking openly gay police officer in Britain - was today named as the Liberal Democrat for London Mayor having won a ballot of the party's London members. He said, "I am enormously proud to be announced today as the Liberal Democrat candidate for London Mayor. For too long Londoners have been denied a serious debate on the future of their city.
