DELGA say no to transgender postcode lottery!

Lib Dem LGBT group DELGA are backing a campaign to change the policies on treatment of trans people of Oxfordshire Primary Care Trust, so that the quality and options of treatment open to transgender people is not dependent on where they happen to live. An independent petition has been started on the Downing Street website and we strongly urge our members and supporters to add their names.
Oxfordshire PCT has decided to classify trans people as merely having a low priority 'psychological state', which needs not have treatment funded until it has caused other severe health problems. These in turn disbar surgery, so if you get a referral then you won't get the surgery! It has been suggested that the policy may be unlawful and it is at odds with the policies of other PCTs in the region.
