DELGA President Evan Harris MP

Has your MP signed EDM 360? The President of DELGA has tabled this Early Day Motion in Parliament pressing the government to continue international work tackling discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity following the recent votes at the General Assembly of the United Nations. Evan Harris, Lib Dem MP for Oxford West & Abingdon, put forward the motion on December 17th and it is already attracting cross-party support.

DELGA Chair Jen Yockney said: "I do hope DELGA members and supporters everywhere will press their local MP - regardless of party colour - to support Evan's early day motion."

EDM 360 reads:

"That this House notes the historical declaration against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, presented to the General Assembly of the United Nations in December 2008; further notes that this declaration was submitted by the French government in consultation with the International Day against Homophobia (IDAHO); and urges the British Government to continue to work with other governments and non-governmental organisations to ensure that there is enough support in the UN for a resolution to be passed to decriminalise homosexuality and to end gender identity discrimination around the world."
