Lib Dems topped the survey for gay-friendliness

Stonewall research conducted by YouGov says that the Lib Dems are perceived as the most gay-friendly party in Britain.

The answers given to the question, "which political parties do you consider to be gay-friendly?" were, in order of perceived gay-friendliness:

Liberal Democrat 43%

Labour 42%

None of them 36%

Conservative 26%

Green 25%

Respect 14%

Scottish National Party 8%

Plaid Cymru 7%

United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) 6%

British National Party 2%

DELGA Chair Jen Yockney commented, "With a track record as the only party to oppose Section 28 from the start, and a record in both voting on and bringing forward LGBT equality legislation which leaves the Tories and Labour standing, it's small wonder the Lib Dems have this level of public recognition as the only party to consistently stand up for LGBT rights."

The ratings are reported in Stonewall's "Living Together" report based on a survey of over 2,000 adults in October 2006.
