Brighton Pride

With twice as many floats and more than 120,000 people taking part, organisers have described Brighton and Hove Pride as "just phenomenal" with Sussex Police saying it was the largest party ever held in the city.
David Harvey, chairman of Brighton and Hove Pride, said the celebrations were "just phenomenal, each year it gets better and better and better".
"I think the number of visitors coming to watch is double what it was last year, just judging by the number of people on the side streets," Harvey said.
"I think it symbolises for Brighton what a wonderful city it is, where being gay, straight, black, white, whatever, people don't really care, they just have a good time."
About 20 uniformed officers and staff from Sussex Police led the two and a half mile parade and the Gay Police Association flag was flown outside Brighton Police Station.
David Harvey said that the Pride festival was no longer an event just for the gay community, but had now become popular with families and heterosexuals.
"Last year, Brighton University researched who was in Preston Park and found that, of Brighton residents, about half were from the heterosexual community," Harvey said.
"Of visitors, which is a significant number of people from London and further afield, about a third are heterosexual.
"It is a sign of the times that people party with their friends and sexuality is a bit of a non-issue."
